The Mabij Foundation

By Manas Ananda

The Mabij Foundation is a nonprofit organization that was created by the owners of Loving Home Care to offer programs and services to disadvantaged communities in Africa. The foundation is committed to solving systemic social problems through education and outreach. Some of these programs include partnerships with other organizations such as the Dream Foundation, an initiative of the Community of Sant'Egidio that houses an orphanage in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Mabij is also involved with an organization in the DRC that trains and supports a work program for the disabled. They are currently collecting sewing machines, thread, and medical supplies such as crutches and wheelchairs. Our hope is that the greater community will see our strength and respond by offering support to those in need.

Mabij volunteers are mobilized to provide continued support for this program and others. Recent donations to the residents at the Saint Pierre elderly hospice in Kinshasa, DRC included rice and chicken. During their last visit to the community, a resident greeted the Mabij Foundation by saying, "We are sure that God has touched your heart for you to come and share the little money that you have. May God continue to bless you!" Discover how you can get involved by contacting Loving Home Care at [email protected]

The Emotional Benefits of Companion Care

By Manas Ananda

Personal Care Assistants (PCA's) improve the quality of life in their senior companions by assisting with everyday activities. They are best known for providing support with bathing, grooming, and dressing, but their intrinsic value reveals a hidden gem that cultivates emotional support and well being.

At Loving Home Care, we believe in a holistic approach to healthcare. While the physical benefits that PCA's provide can not be overstated, the emotional support that is cultivated through their friendship offers a lasting impression. Their connection becomes an invaluable source of inspiration that develops a sense of purpose, raises spirits, and offers meaningful engagement throughout the day.

In a study conducted by the Alzheimer's Association, 70% of adults worry that they will someday become a burden to their families (2020). Our caregivers offer these families much needed respite and support. Devoting their time and energy into developing a friendship that produces numerous emotional benefits including dignity, independence, comfort, confidence, and peace of mind. If you or your loved one is interested in learning more about our caregivers, and the services that they provide, contact us at (802) 849-4927 or [email protected]
